Bush School
Seattle, Washington
This project adds five new buildings and a subterranean parking area to the campus of the Bush School. The buildings will house a below grade parking garage with 125 stall spaces, a new gymnasium and sports center with workout and locker room spaces, a practice field, a new lower school complex with classrooms, administrative offices, a playground and a community/multipurpose room for the entire school. The one-story gymnasium is framed with custom structural steel trusses, steel columns and braced frames. The 2-and 3-story classroom buildings and the one-story library include metal roof decking and steel joists, steel beams and concrete floor slabs, steel columns, braced frames and concrete shearwalls. Glulam trusses support the roof above the community room and the floor below is framed with steel beams and concrete floor slabs. The playfield, playground area, and main floor of all five buildings, are supported by concrete floor slabs and long span steel beams that bear on concrete columns in the parking area.
