| Episcopal Church of the Epiphany
Seattle, Washington
The historical Epiphany Parish is
a complex of buildings located on a large site in the
Denny Blaine district of Seattle. The buildings were
constructed over a 60-year period. Development began
with the Chapel built in 1911 and the Rectory built
in 1922, both designed by Ellsworth Storey and are Seattle
Landmarks. Both the Chapel and the Church are wood framed
and emphasize craftsmanship; the rectory is a handsome
Shingle Style design. The Great House is a two-story
wood frame structure with brick veneer exterior and
solid unreinforced brick parapets. The complex houses
a school, meeting hall, church, offices and day care.
The Great House, Chapel, Rectory and Church were retrofitted
to reduce seismic risks, and a pedestrian bridge was
added between the Church and Great House.
