| Schuchart Residence
Seattle, Washington
A single family residence which won the 2005 AIA Honor
award recognizing excellence in architecture. The structure is
one story with exposed wood rafters supported by steel
beams and columns. The lateral system incorporates
conventional shear walls, hardy frames, and cantilevered
columns. Structural connections are hidden utilizing knife
plates, which allow exposed beam connections without the
bulky look of hardware at the ends. The living room
incorporates a mono-pored concrete fireplace and chimney
which adds to the sleek design of the whole structure.
