| King Street Station
Everett, Washington
A seismic retrofit in conjunction
with a historic renovation of the King Street Station
for use as a multi-modal transportation hub for the
Washington State Department of Transportation. The seismic
retrofit entails strengthening existing unreinforced
masonry walls with reinforced concrete in the main station,
strengthening existing cross-braced steel frames in
the clock tower, strong-backing of the tall masonry
piers in the waiting room, and placement of additional
piles to penetrate the liquefiable soils below the structure.
The project received the AIA Seattle Chapter Commendation
Award.
